Woah… day 24? Where has the time gone?
Today was a rainy day and I loved it. I think rain is so pretty and it was peaceful. The worst thing about it being rainy is that means there is no soccer. In hopes that someone would show up and prove this theory wrong, I still went. When I got to the beach, not one person was on the beach. Well… theory was proven to be accurate.
Anyways, instead I went with my host mom, Denise, to pick up the kids from school. She is a school bus driver along with Beto. Every Tuesday and Thursday she takes me to work, so I spend a small amount of time with these kids. Today, I got to spend the whole ride with them and I wish I could spend more time with them. Denise told me that every time I am not there they are bummed out, but they get really excited when I am there. I went into the school with Denise to get the kids with her, and the kids’ reactions when they saw me were priceless. Some sprinted across the room just to give me a hug; it was so cool to see how excited they were to see me. During the ride, one of the boys was determined to teach me Portuguese and kept pointing to things and making me repeat. The whole ride was crazy because they all wanted my attention and kept yelling my name. It was chaotic, but an awesome chaotic. There was one girl that was sitting behind me and was mesmerized by my hair and kept playing with it. The boys kept handing me food as presents, it was the cutest thing. They kept saying “linda”, which means beautiful. To be honest, the time I have spent in Brazil I have never had so many people call me beautiful and I forgot how much that word can lift you up. That is not a word that people throw around often at home, so hearing it at least once a day helps me to see the beauty inside myself too. It was just a peaceful day J
You are beautiful, inside and out. Your perspective on life there gives me a perspective that I truly thank you for. Your words really embrace how you feel. I love it! xoxo
