In the summer of 2011 I took a life changing adventure living in Brazil. Now... thanks to my incredible experience in Brazil, I have continued my adventures, turning this blog into a blog about my travels and what new things life will bring me. Soccer being the main drive in my adventures. Enjoy :)

Day 23- Quatra 8/6/11

It was a nice day out, so we decided to go back up to Itaipu beach. I got a little bit of color and it was another wonderful beach day! This was probably one of the most interesting beach experiences I have had though. When I was getting off the bus some guy grabbed my arm, naturally my reaction is why on earth is someone grabbing me, but then to my surprise I knew him. We had met this guy last week because he just got back from living in America, so we all talked some stories with him. It was just a small world that we happened to be on the same bus. There are a lot of stray dogs in here Brazil, so when we bought some food on the beach we did not expect to be swarmed by tons of dogs. We turn around and there are at least ten dogs surrounding us, but no worries they did not get any closer. They were harmless, but it was funny to see all of these dogs all staring at us waiting for one of us to give in and give them food. There was also a homeless guy that was at the beach and he went to shower in the ocean, but he did not have pants that fit him. I might be scarred after seeing his butt hanging out, but I did feel bad for him, but I still could not hold in from laughing. I did not bring my camera, but when the others post pictures I will post them. I fell asleep on the bus ride home because we got caught in traffic, so it was a long bus day unfortunately. As soon as I got home, I changed for soccer and was back out the door. I am not as shy as I was when I first started, so I am starting to come out of my shell more and more. I am talking more with the coaches and the kids, it is great! I was telling the coaches about Colorado, and all of a sudden a girl walks by with a Colorado shirt on. I did not even look at her face, but was staring at her shirt as if it was a strange coincidence. It was definitely the two girls (Joanna and Sami) that I met the other night, but I could not get over the initial shock of seeing a Colorado shirt that I did not even realize I knew them. Later in the night, there was some guy that knew English who is about my age and the club owner pulled him aside to translate for me. Anytime I need a translator I can contact him, which is always helpful.
Tonight I finally tried Brigaderio! I had never heard of this before, but it is beyond amazing. I will have to make it for everyone back home : ]. I learned how to with my host sister, Agatha. She taught me how to make it and I almost ate the whole pot, it was soooo good! She ended up staying in my room last night with me and we played UNO and games on my I-pod. It was fun to hang out with her! Another thing, whenever there is a soccer game going on I always know because there is cheering all over the streets when some team scores and fireworks go off. On multiple occasions these fireworks have scared the living daylights out of me, but it is a cool environment!
